An Invitation to Participate in 900schools.org

Encouraging Successful Public Schools in West Los Angeles

More than 50 public schools in the Los Angles area have reportedly exceeded the API designation of 900 — an indicator of high student achievement. Most of these schools do so year after year. There are many thoughts and opinions as to why the students at these particular public schools consistently succeed; great teachers, smart administrators, caring community, involved parents . . .  And while there may not be a set “formula” that creates a successful student, it is clear that these school communities are doing something right.  It is our hope that this website will be a vibrant forum for the parents of these successful students to share their insight and information — the experiences, ideas, strategies, and contacts that have worked well for them.  To start the dialogue, on the tabs above, we have provided information on summer camps, middle school and gifted programs.  Below are blog pages for Warner Avenue, Westwood Charter, Fairburn and Kenter Canyon Elementary Schools.  We invite you to share the valuable information you have gleaned from living the process, and to post questions as well. There is almost certainly another parent out there who has the same question. And without doubt, there are many other parents who have already encountered that issue and have insight and information to share. We look forward to your participation.
